As the Dallas Cowboys head into this weekend’s Division Round showdown with the San Francisco 49ers, it looks like they’ll be without one of their top players.

According to Dallas Cowboys reporter Todd Archer of ESPN, Cowboys offensive lineman Jason Peters missed practice once again on Thursday, meaning it’s unlikely he’ll be able to play for the team on Sunday.

“Jason Peters (hip) will not practice today, so it’s trending toward him not being available Sunday. Jayron Kearse (knee) will be limited but he already said its a 100% chance he’s playing,” Archer said in a tweet on Thursday.

Obviously, this is horrible news for the Cowboys heading into a playoff game against San Francisco and Nick Bosa, who has been by far the best pass rusher in the league this year. And the NFL world had plenty to say about it.

“I think it’s probably too late to move Tyron Smith back to the left side, given that Tyler Smith hasn’t spent time at right tackle. but man I’d be tempted. how Tyler Smith holds up against the likely DPOY feels like the biggest matchup of the game,” David Helman of Fox Sports said in a tweet.

“With Jason Peters out it is Tyler Smith vs Nick Bosa…plz send all the chips and help to that side with the RBs and TEs,” one fan said on Twitter.

“Jason Peters hasn’t practice all week (to this point) and now Kearse is nursing an injury. Could be big for Sunday’s game vs. 49ers,” 49ers reporter Sterling Bennett said on Twitter.

“This could be huge. Chances are they may move Tyron Smith back to the left side, but either way, 49ers will have to take advantage,” Niners fan Jim Burke said on Twitter.

“Tyler Smith vs. Nick Bosa. #PrayforDallas,” Sherrell D. McMillan of Inside Carolina said in a tweet.

This was always going to be a tough matchup for the Cowboys, but it just got a lot tougher.
