The NFC East, or NFC Beast as some fans like to call it, is arguably the hardest conference to stay at the top of. Last year the Philadelphia Eagles won the division title, led by Jalen Hurts, who eventually won Super Bowl MVP after blowing out the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
However, the Eagles’ repeating this season was far from a sure thing. The Washington Commanders reached the NFC Championship last year under rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels and were expected to improve this season. The other teams in the division were expected to be better as well.
The New York Giants selected Jaxson Dart to be the new franchise quarterback after parting ways with Daniel Jones last season, and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott made a full recovery from the brutal hamstring injury that ended his season last year.
Unfortunately, one team in the division has lost the services of their offense’s leader for at least one game, due to a nagging hamstring injury.
“Commanders QB Jayden Daniels, who suffered a low-grade hamstring strain on Sunday, is going to be out for MNF against the #Chiefs, sources say. Marcus Mariota gets the start,” reported NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Big fan of JD5 i just hope they dont rush him back. Dont need another RG3 story,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Hamstring compensating for that knee. Might need extended time to let everything heal for real,” another fan added.
“Shut it down for the season. It’s fried. No need for him to return again until 2026.,” someone else suggested.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Commanders handle the mounting injuries for their young star.
