NFL world reacts after Eagles coach steps down

The Philadelphia Eagles didn’t have the sort of follow-up season they were expecting to after last season’s Super Bowl title. It seemed throughout the season like head coach Nick Sirianni struggled to get cohesiveness out of his team.

Star running back Saquon Barkley saw his production wane, as did quarterback Jalen Hurts, and wide receiver A.J. Brown went public with his unhappiness around his role in the offense.

The Eagles will hope to return to form next season, but they’ll be without a franchise stalwart to help them do it. Longtime Eagles coach Jeff Stoutland, who most recently served as Philly’s offensive line coach, announced that he was stepping down.

“Philadelphia, I’ve decided my time coaching with the Eagles has come to an end. When I arrived here in 2013, I did not know what I was signing up for. I quickly learned what this city demands.

“But more importantly, what it gives back. The past 13 years have been the great privilege of my coaching career. I didn’t just work here, I became one of you. Stout out,” Stoutland wrote on Twitter.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“You should be proud of your accomplishments. We have been blessed by your time with the Eagles! Wish you the best!” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Thank You for all you’ve done Coach, there will never be anyone who does it better,” someone else added.

“2 Super Bowl rings, decade + of watching some of the best OL play in the NFL. Enjoy the next chapter Stout,” another fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see who Sirianni nabs as Stout’s replacement.
