The Dallas Cowboys are 2-0 since Cooper Rush took over as starting quarterback following Dak Prescott’s injury. Prescott will be back soon, but team owner Jerry Jones is still clarifying what will happen if Rush continues to find success in Prescott’s absence.
Two weeks ago, Jones was talking about the quarterback situation with reporters when he said that he would “welcome” the possibility that Rush plays so well that they think twice before letting Prescott take back the reins.
“Wouldn’t it be something if you had a dilemma as to which way to go?” asked Jones. “You do that if [Rush] gets ten wins. Same thing that happened with Prescott. I think like that.”
When asked if he would welcome that kind of controversy, Jones didn’t hesitate.
“Of course, I would. That means we won. If he comes in here and plays as well as Prescott played. Rush played that well over these next games ahead. I’d walk to New York to get that.”
Jones may have been having some fun with reporters with his comments, but he now finds himself potentially in the situation he mentioned. So it’s time for real answers.
During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, Jones confirmed that no matter how well Rush performs, it’s still Prescott’s team.
“No,” Jones said when asked if he’d stick with Rush no matter what. “All it does is tell me that we’re in great shape at the QB position.”
Jerry Jones was asked on @1053thefan if Cowboys QB Cooper Rush keeps winning if it makes Jones think about sticking with Rush even when Dak Prescott is healthy: "No, all it does is tell me that we're in great shape at the QB position."

It’s worth noting that while Rush is the quarterback in those games, there are plenty of other reasons the Cowboys have been able to win, including the stingy defense.
