The Dallas Cowboys once again shocked the NFL world this weekend, beating the defending-Super Bowl champion LA Rams, 22-10. Backup quarterback Cooper Rush is now 4-0 as a starter since replacing the injured Dak Prescott in the lineup.

Despite Jerry Jones saying a few weeks ago that he wants a quarterback controversy, he made it clear Sunday who his starter was.

“Dak is the No. 1 quarterback, Dak is our guy,” said Jones. “But isn’t it great that somebody came in and played well enough so that we can ask that question? That’s my point.”

Rush has been more than serviceable as the starter but the Cowboys’ offense is better with Dak Prescott under center. Prescott brings more as an overall quarterback as he can not only pass the ball but run it as well, not to mention his NFL game experience.

It also doesn’t hurt to have the best defense in the NFL backing you up. The main reason the Cowboys have been able to survive without Prescott is because of their defense. They held the Rams’ high-flying offense to 10 points and, even when the Rams were driving, the defense stopped them.

Unlike previous years, the Cowboys look like they may be the team to beat in the NFC because of their defense. If they beat the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, they take one more step forward to their ultimate goal; finally getting back to the Super Bowl.
