Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has never been afraid to spotlight his franchise in the media. It would appear that that’s exactly what he was looking to do when he made some pointed comments about his contract negotiations with star player Micah Parsons, who is looking for a new contract extension.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Micah Parsons: ‘He’s getting paid. He gets about 20-some million right now. And that’s a pretty easy $20 million standing there watching practice out there at the same time.’
“Disappointed that he’s not out there? Jerry: ‘Not really, because I don’t want him to get hurt,'” reported The Athletic’s Jon Machota on Twitter.
Fans reacted to Jones’ take on things on social media.
‘What a ghoul. Just smiling the whole time, he really doesn’t care about this,” one fan wrote on Twitter
“He ain’t wrong , just for standing there he’s getting $20 mill. So stop me with all that (nonsense) that Micah is great leader and stuff lol if he was HE WOULD BE WITH HIS TEAMATES,” someone else added.
“He is negotiating thru the media again. It’s transparent, and ridiculous. Pay the man his 5 year $43 mill a year deal with 80 percent guaranteed and get on with it,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how Parsons responds to the comments.
