The New York Jets thought they were selecting a franchise quarterback when they took former BYU star Zach Wilson with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. But after some absolutely brutal play from Wilson this year, the quarterback was benched and his future with the team is in doubt, so it seems the team is willing to make some major moves at the quarterback position.

During a press conference on Thursday, Jets team owner Woody Johnson revealed that he is “absolutely” willing to spend what it takes to upgrade the quarterback position.

“That’s the missing piece,” Johnson said, according to Jets writer Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic.

It’s a bold statement, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.

“Woody needs to sell but this is all I wanted to hear this offseason. Now get it done and make sure it’s not Jimmy or Tannehill and we’re cooking,” Kyle Maggio of Whistle Sports said on Twitter.

“way to slight the #2 pick you drafted just a year ago,” Jets fan Henry Sanchez said in a tweet.

“GET LAMAR WHATEVER IT TAKES PLEASE (carr a good option too)” Jets fan and competitive gamer Blankzy said in a tweet.

“1000% believe this. If there’s one team desp enough to overpay for a QB this year, it’s this one,” one fan pointed out on Twitter.

We’ll have to see what moves the Jets makes this offseason.
