The New York Jets trading for Aaron Rodgers: The story you know that’s going to break that you’d wish already happened by now, probably.

Monday turned to Tuesday and no such luck has happened yet. But the Jets did make an intriguing move that may fulfill a rumored demand the quarterback has.

On Tuesday, the Jets signed former Green Bay Packers receiver Allan Lazard, Lazard, a teammate of Rodgers’ from 2018-2022, heads to the Meadowlands after some modest years with Green Bay.

“Jets are signing FA WR Allen Lazard to a 4-year, $44M deal with $22M guaranteed, sources tell @thescore,” Jordan Schultz of The Score tweeted. “Lazard comes off his beset season, totaling 60/788/6 in 15 games with Packers. This deal should also get things to the finish line with Aaron Rodgers and the Jets.”

ESPN reporter Dianna Russini tweeted earlier Tuesday that Rodgers has something of a “wishlist” as far as free agent targets go. They included, according to Russini, Lazard, Randall Cobb, Marcedes Lewis, and Odell Beckham Jr.

So the Jets signed one player on Rodgers’ rumored wishlist. Their corresponding moves, already under a microscope, will only be further poked and prodded as we continue to await Aaron pushing the proverbial button.

Until then, sit and wait we must, while New York apparently is taking his shopping suggestions along with him.
