The quarterback situation for the New York Jets has been heavily discussed since the injury to second-year quarterback Zach Wilson, but it appears that he could be set to return shortly.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport discussed the recovery process for Wilson, detailing that the young quarterback may be good to go for the Jets’ Week 4 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“Expectation is that Zach Wilson is expected to ramp up this week,” said Rapoport. “Did a little 7-on-7 this week, gonna do more this week coming back from not just a meniscus, but a bone bruise as well. If he makes it through this week all good, I would expect him to practice fully next week and be in position to start in Week 4.”

Head coach Robert Saleh previously said that the Steelers game would be the earliest that Wilson would return, so it seems that his recovery process is going well to this point.

Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco has been starting in Wilson’s absence and has been extremely inconsistent for the organization.

Flacco’s performance in New York’s opening game against the Baltimore Ravens left much to be desired, but he bounced back with a career day last weekend against the Cleveland Browns.

Wilson showed off some real flashes of potential in his rookie season, but there were also some very real growing pains. While Flacco is average at best in the NFL, his leadership was clearly evident in the team’s comeback victory over the Browns.

The team has stayed afloat with Flacco under center, but Zach Wilson should be taking snaps at quarterback in New York sooner rather than later.
