Zach Wilson is on the move. The New York Jets parted ways with the former second-overall pick on Monday after they traded him to the Denver Broncos.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported the details of the trade.
“Former Jets starting QB and No. 2 pick Zach Wilson is on the move. Sources say he’s being traded to the Broncos, hoping for a fresh start,” Rapoport said.
Rapoport included more details about the trade, saying it also involved a pick swap. The teams will exchange a sixth-round pick for a seventh-round pick, and the Jets will pay some of his salary.

A trade is probably the best thing for both sides at this point. Wilson never quite matched the hype he had coming out of BYU. When the Jets drafted him second in the 2021 NFL Draft, they were obviously expecting a lot more than they got.
Instead of success, Wilson simply didn’t play well and didn’t earn many fans along the way. The Jets eventually replaced him with Aaron Rodgers, which… well, you know how that went and you know how that’s going.
Nevertheless, the Zach Wilson Era in New York is over. It’s unfortunate how it went, but it was simply a skill issue the entire way. Hopefully a fresh start in Denver can be what Wilson needs to turn his career around. He will only face competition, as of now, from Jarret Stidham. That could, of course, change after Thursday night’s NFL Draft.
The NFL world had much to say about this trade.

This closes the book on the Zach Wilson era. It will be remembered as one of the worst draft picks in team history. You could argue it’s the worst, considering where he was drafted (No. 2 overall), the importance of the QB position and the lack of production. #Jets

Zach Wilson is the same age as Nix and Penix.
He costs the Broncos basically no money and a pick swap.
Is it an inspiring move on the surface? No. Is it a "bad" move? Also no.
