The NFL is currently mired in a scandal with Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder accused of improper conduct throughout his years of ownership.

Snyder recently threatened fellow owners with “dirt” that his private investigators compiled.

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay, speaking at Tuesday’s league meeting in New York, said that there is merit to removing Snyder as an owner and that they’ll eventually land the 24 team owner votes required to do so.

“And there it is… Jim Irsay says #Commanders owner Dan Snyder should be removed as owner #NFL … added he thinks they will get the votes eventually,” Forbes reporter Jabari Young tweeted.

As for any potential “dirt” Snyder may have on him, Irsay remained unperturbed:

“Irsay
said he doesn’t care if Snyder might have dirt on other owners. ‘He can investigate me till the cows come home, it’s not going to back me off,'” Lindsay Jones reported.

The NFL world was quick to react to the news:

“This situation escalated from a mere Three Mile Island to a Chernobyl extremely quickly,” Jason B. Hirschhorn said.

“There is something really funny and really predictable about Irsay storming into this breach,” Drea Blackwell said.

“My bet: most owner feel this way, but not many (if any all) were willing to go on the record about it,” Zak Keefer said.

“Colts president Pete Ward and NFL PR folks are standing right next to Irsay. This is clearly something he thought about it, and wanted to do,” Albert Breer said.

“Holy smokes. Irsay dropping the hammer on Dan Snyder,” Scott Abraham said.

Snyder has yet to respond to Irsay’s comments.

UPDATE: Daniel Snyder sent out a letter to all owners on Tuesday, denying allegations made in the ESPN report.
