The rumors of the Cleveland Browns trading for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo may be off the table, at least according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport who said on the Pat McAfee Show that the deal could be dead.

“I’ve seen the reports but I just don’t get the sense that the Browns are that interested with Jimmy G,” said Rapoport on Monday.

Rapoport may have meant they aren’t interested in Jimmy G. for now because they’re waiting to see what happens with the NFL’s appeal of Deshaun Watson’s case.

Originally, Watson was only supposed to sit out six games, but the league is reportedly pushing for a year. Many feel that, because of the appeal, the NFL will get its wish. This may put Garoppolo’s name back in the mix.

Another team whose name has come up is the New York Jets. Jets quarterback Zach Wison injured his knee over the weekend during his first pre-season appearance. Although he is only expected just to miss a few games, it could be longer. Garoppolo’s former quarterback coach is now with the Jets and it’s now a possibility that New York could be Jimmy G’s new home.

Garoppolo didn’t play in the 49er’s pre-season game against the Green Bay Packers Saturday.
