The Las Vegas Raiders received some upsetting news when it was revealed that Jimmy Garoppolo failed his physical. And while the Raiders knew that Garoppolo would sit out OTA’s because he was still recovering from his foot injury, no one knew it was this bad.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio says there is a stipulation in Garoppolo’s contract regarding injuries.

“PFT has obtained Garoppolo’s contract. It contains a critical final clause — Addendum G — that addresses the foot injury Garoppolo suffered during the 2022 season, and for which he had surgery after signing with the Raiders,” Florio wrote.

“Addendum G is a waiver and release. In the first paragraph, the waiver acknowledges that, without it, Garoppolo would not pass the team’s physical “because of a preexisting medal and middle cuneiform and a fracture of the base of the second metatarsal in the Player’s left foot and that the Club would not enter into an NFL Player Contract with Player.”

So that means that this could give the Raiders a way out. If they did that, though, who would start if they cut Garoppolo? The team basically put all their chips in a bag for him. So don’t expect them to back out now.

The Raiders, however, don’t have to pay the QB his $11. 2 million signing bonus they would have owed him. Instead, it will be part of his base salary this year if he plays.

NFL fans, especially Raider fans, had plenty to say about this latest development.

As you can see, Raider fans aren’t happy at all with this news.
