The Cleveland Browns have not performed well the past two seasons, and team owner Jimmy Haslam knows it. However, despite the recent struggles, it sounds like Haslam is optimistic about this season.
During a recent interview, Haslam acknowledged the team’s frustrating record the past two years, but he made it clear that he thinks the team will overperform this season.
‘It’s unacceptable’
During an interview with reporters on Friday, Haslam opened up a bit about the team’s expectations while admitting that the team has not met those expectations the past two seasons.
“We want to be fun to watch,” Haslam said via Pro Football Talk. “We want to play hard and not make mistakes. Look like we’ve got our act together, which is something we didn’t have the last two years, and the expectations are we will this year.”
He said the team’s overall struggles are “something that keeps us awake at night” and agreed that the loyal browns fans deserve better than what the team has been giving them.
“It’s unacceptable, and I hate it most for our fans, because they deserve better than that,” Haslam said. “We’re working hard every day to not have that same kind of performance we’ve had in the past. We don’t have our heads in the sand — we know we haven’t performed.”
Haslam is Taking the Over
Haslam knows that the Browns have not been competitive in a few years, but he thinks that’s going to change this year.
During an interview with reporters on Friday, Haslam was asked what he thought a successful season would look like in 2026. Haslam responded by bringing up the team’s win total betting odds.
“I would say this, and we never do this, but I think the odds are for us to win five and a half games,” Haslam said. “I’ll take the over.”
The Browns have won a total of eight games the past two seasons combined. We’ll have to see whether or not they can pull off six wins this year.
