JJ Watt

When Arizona Cardinals star defensive end J.J. Watt shockingly announced his retirement from the NFL last month, many were wondering what would be next for one of the top pass rushers in the history of the game. While he may not know for sure, it sounds like we can safely cross one thing off the list.

During a question-and-answer session on Twitter on Saturday afternoon, one fan asked J.J. Watt if he had any interest in coaching following his playing career. And Watt revealed that he is deterred from coaching due to the “crazy hours” of time commitment.

“If I could just coach and not do all the other stuff that comes with it, absolutely. I love trying to help guys reach their full potential,” Watt said in a tweet. “But it’s the hours and hours of non-coaching that deters me. Those guys put in crazy hours and make lots of family sacrifices, etc.”

But what did reveal that he might consider one other job that would keep him close to the game: broadcasting.

“Certainly a possibility,” Watt said in another tweet. “Early in my career I said I would never do it, but I love the game too much to not be around it in some capacity. As for movies, not sure. I more enjoy the pressure, energy & adrenaline of a live audience (why I enjoyed hosting SNL so much) We’ll see.”
