Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has been transparent about the Bengals needing to improve, amid what’s been a frustrating three-year stretch for the franchise.
“We don’t want to be in the spot we are in now, so something’s got to change,” Burrow said, per ESPN. “Whether it’s players we have continuing to improve and get better and play championship-caliber football or bringing in guys that will or whatever it may be. Obviously, something has to [change].”
A big part of Cincinnati’s struggles has been on the defensive side, and the Bengals made a blockbuster trade this offseason to acquire defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence in an attempt to get things sorted out on that side of the ball.
“Dexter fits the vision we have on our defense and will also elevate others around him,” Bengals director of player personnel Duke Tobin said.
“We are confident in Dexter and can’t wait to see the positive effects he and the other players we have acquired this offseason have on our football team. We are excited to turn to the draft and our remaining picks to further enhance our team.”
The Bengals reportedly know that a lot of things will need to be reconsidered if the Bengals have another unsuccessful season, even surrouning Burrow.

It’ll be interesting to see what tough decisions might be coming down the pipeline if the Bengals miss the plyoffs again.
