Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals were humbled on Monday Night Football at the hands of the Cleveland Browns. The loss knocked the Bengals, the reigning conference champions, out of first place in the AFC North. Burrow, the No. 1 overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, has yet to beat the Browns in the four attempts of his career.

Burrow appeared Wednesday on Colin Cowherd’s podcast and got honest about his team’s chances in the future after another inexplicable loss to the hapless Browns.

“We played the same Browns team that ended up kicking our a** again last year”—Burrow tells Cowherd why the Bengals aren’t hitting the panic button,” the podcast’s official Twitter account tweeted.

Burrow said things are “eerily” similar to last season when the team surprised the league by making the Super Bowl.

“So things are playing out very similarly to how they did early last year. So hopefully we can get a win this week going into the bye and kind of ride that momentum.”

Burrow and the Bengals are next in action Sunday when they host P.J. Walker and the Carolina Panthers at Paycor Stadium. The Bengals are 4-4 on the season and opened this week as 7.5 favorites over the Panthers.
