Joe Burrow Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (9) warms up before the first quarter of the NFL Week 18 game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Baltimore Ravens at Paycor Stadium in downtown Cincinnati on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023. Baltimore Ravens At Cincinnati Bengals Nfl Week 18

Over the past few NFL seasons, Joe Burrow has established himself as one of the most dominant quarterbacks in the entire league, and it sounds like he’s about to get a massive pay raise as a result.

This offseason, the Bengals and Burrow have engaged in preliminary contract negotiations. And while Bengals director of player personnel can’t reveal too much about their contract talks, he did have one thing to announce to the world: Joe Burrow is about to be a very wealthy man.

“We’ve looked at a lot of different things. Thankfully, [Bengals vice president Katie Blackburn]’s on top of that one,” Tobin said during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show. “She’s the one that keeps us on track with the salary cap. Not only for this year, but for future years. So everything we do, and we’re looking now, but these dollars count, if you’re not counting them this year, you’re gonna count them next year, and the year after. So every dollar that goes out counts. So it’s a pie. Just how big of a piece of the pie, you know, the only thing I can predict with the contract is it’s gonna be a sizable amount of money, and he’s not going to be asking any of you for loans anytime soon. He’ll be paid well and he’s earned it.”

It’s a pretty major update, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.

It will certainly be interesting to see what his deal ultimately looks like and whether or not the team has room in the salary cap for the rest of the players the Bengals would like to extend.
