Joe Burrow’s past couple of weeks have been a roller coaster.
On September 7, the quarterback agreed to an NFL-record $275 million extension to remain in Cincinnati through at least 2029.
On September 10, he played one of the worst games of his NFL career in Cincinnati’s 24-3 season-opening loss against the Cleveland Browns. Burrow went just 14-31 for 82 yards in the wet conditions.
Burrow has said there’s nothing to worry about and it was just a one-week fluke. What he did do, however, was get a new haircut to wipe the slate clean and move on from the loss.

Burrow knew it was time for a haircut “When you have a game like that on Sunday.”
While the haircut looks very similar to his old haircut, whatever it takes to put the loss behind him and move on to Week 2 is surely fine with Bengals fans.
Perhaps there’s just something about season openers that Burrow struggles with. Prior to this performance, his worst career outing was Cincinnati’s 2022 season-opening overtime loss to Pittsburgh where he threw a career-high four interceptions. The 2023 season opener featured a career-low in passing yards and quarterback rating and was just the fifth time in his career that Burrow failed to throw a single touchdown pass.
Social media had plenty to say about Burrow’s new look Wednesday.
You are missing the point. Joe Burrow is superstitious. Joe Burrow changed his haircut because of how poorly he played… It’s kind of funny and interesting… just entertaining… There’s not much more to what happened Sunday… They laid a dud… Hopefully they turn it around

"A little of both. A little of both." Joe Burrow on whether he was joking about haircut after a bad game or serious.
