With the holiday season upon us, the season of gift buying and impulse buying is in full swing. We all know the Baltimore Ravens’ resident elite quarterback Joe Flacco isn’t exactly one with expensive taste, and it seems he may not be a big impulse spender either. He can, however, be pressured into making an unwise purchase, as he recently shared on the team’s website.

Flacco admitted to once being persuaded to buy five Brookstone massage chairs after Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta egged him on.

“The dumbest thing I bought were … how many did I buy? … I bought a handful of massage chairs a few years back,” Flacco said. “Like the big Brookstone ones that put you all the way back.”

The decision to purchase the chairs came while seeing a commercial for the chairs on TV during a casual get-together. Flacco asked if he should buy the chair, to which Pitta did what he could to get the franchise quarterback to splurge a little bit.

“Of course Pitta, he’s the ultimate peer pressure’er, the person who wants you to do dumb things,” Flacco explained. “So he started getting in my ear about doing it. I might have gotten five of them, a couple thousand dollars each.”

The biggest problem about the chairs for Flacco is he does not exactly have the right size to be able to enjoy the chair. He’s too big! Not able to enjoy the chairs he had purchased, Flacco let them sit around for a while before gifting them to a team security employee.

I’m just left wondering if Pitta ended up getting one of the chairs too. Given that he’s only two inches shorter than Flacco, he probably had the same issues with comfort.
