Houston Texans wide receiver John Metchie lll shared some sad news that he was diagnosed with leukemia and will likely miss the entire 2022 season as he undergoes treatment.

In a statement, Metchie revealed he has acute promyelocytic leukemia which is the most curable form. Metchie seems to be thinking positive as while he’ll miss a lot of playing time, he expects to make a recovery.

The former Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver was drafted in the second round by the Texans in the 2022 NFL Draft and was drafted in the seventh round by the CFL’s BC Lions. The NFL world was united in wishing Metchie well and hoping for the best.
