Former Texas A&M and Cleveland Browns quarterback (and also, TMZ front page magnet) Johnny Manziel went on a brief tweetstorm Thursday afternoon, clarifying some details about his autograph signing during Super Bowl week and seemingly attempting to repent for some of his past missteps.
First, Manziel shot down the rumor that he would be charging $50 for a selfie during the autograph session (though he did nothing to debunk the $99 charge for an autograph).
Just had this brought to to my attention. I'm not charging a penny for a damn "selfie" at the super bowl. Dumbest thing I've ever heard

Then he explained why he was doing the signing – to thank (I guess?) those who stood by him during his numerous hard times.
I'm doing this signing for the people (especially Texans) who have stuck with me through all the mistakes I've made these past years #tru

He claimed he was happy (finally).
Haven't been this happy in a long time man. I appreciate all the people in my life who reached out during the truly rough patches in '16

Manziel then admitted he was a “douche” during 2016, and also acknowledged his drinking.
No lie.. I was a douche in 2016 I'm just trying to be a good PERSON again#LostInTheSauce

He signed off with a somewhat inspirational note.
Have to LIVE these words not just TWEET them ✌🏼

This is all well and good, and we wish Manziel nothing but the best.
However, his pinned tweet from last April lets us know we’ve been down this road before.
Made plenty of mistakes along the way, and have a lot I'd do differently. To all my family and real friends who have stuck by me…THANK YOU

The Johnny Manziel saga is just sad at this point. Hopefully, he really, truly means what he says, and won’t be a tabloid mainstay anymore.
