Jon Gruden hasn’t been on an NFL sideline since he a disastrous stint with the Las Vegas Raiders. However, the former Super Bowl champion has been extremely vocal about his desire to return to coaching at the highest level.
Mike Tomlin recently stepped down as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers. A potential Gruden-Steelers pairing wasn’t without its intrigue, but the team ultimately decided to bring in a different Super Bowl champ, Mike McCarthy, to fill the role.
However, another team reached out to Gruden about joining its staff. It turns out the former Champ is more than willing to wait for the right opportunity.
The #Jets reached out to Jon Gruden about the idea of joining Aaron Glenn’s staff, according to multiple sources. Gruden wasn’t interested in the job,” reported league insider Zack Rosenblatt on Tuesday.

“It’s real, real bad”
Fans reacted to the shocking development on social media.
“Not surprised he’d rather work for Dave Portnoy than Aaron Glenn,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“If Jon Gruden, who is currently blackballed and involved in a lawsuit against the NFL, is saying NO to an Offensive Coordinator role on your staff then you know it’s real, real bad,” one person added.

“I feel like he wants to be a head coach, doing good at barstool sports and 3rd who wants to work for Glenn,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if another opportunity comes around for Gruden.
