For almost two decades, Aaron Rodgers has been leading the way for the Green Bay Packers, winning multiple MVP Awards and leading the team to a Super Bowl title. But now, Rodgers is leaving the team as he seeks a trade to the New York Jets, leaving the Green Bay Packers with Jordan Love as their starter. And it sounds like head coach Matt LaFleur is expecting a dropoff.

While Matt LaFleur has long expressed his confidence in Jordan Love and the plan is for him to take over as their starter, he had quite a brutally honest assessment of how he expects Love to perform during his first season as a starting quarterback in the league.

“We all have to kind of temper our expectations for him,” LaFleur said, according to Green Bay Packers beat writer Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.

Obviously, this is not exactly what Green Bay Packers fans want to hear after years of stellar quarterback play with Rodgers at the helm, but it’s perhaps a realistic approach to take heading into the year.

After all, it would be a lot to ask to expect Love to match Rodgers’ success in his first season as a starter in the league.
