Josh Jacobs is back with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Amid disagreements over his contract status, the former Alabama standout agreed to terms with the Raiders on a short-term deal. According to reports that emerged on Saturday, Jacobs signed a one-year contract worth $12 million.

Jacobs himself then emerged to make a simple but effective announcement:

“I’m back.”

Jacobs led the NFL in rushing yards last season with 1,653 on 340 carries. Jacobs scored 12 rushing touchdowns, led the NFL in rushing yards per game (97.2), and had the longest run of anyone last season, 86 yards. Jacobs has amassed 4,740 rushing yards over his four-year career, with 40 rushing touchdowns. He’s had two seasons of double-digit touchdowns, 2020 and 2022, in which he scored 12.

Before arriving to the Raiders, he starred at the University of Alabama. He’s been one of the most successful Alabama running backs in the NFL since Nick Saban took over the program in 2007. Derrick Henry being chief among them, of course.

The move to secure Jacobs for a year temporarily resolves the contract dispute between the two parties. Josh would obviously like to be paid a number worthy to his accolades. But running backs have recently found it hard to make inroads on doing that.

The NFL world reacted to Josh Jacobs’ announcement that he’s back with the Raiders.
