The Las Vegas Raiders are off to a poor start to the season with just a 2-5 record under first-year head coach Josh McDaniels and they had what was without doubt their worst performance yet on Sunday afternoon, falling 24-0 in a shutout loss to the New Orleans Saints.
It’s been rough for the team even despite landing star receiver wide receiver Davante Adams. The offense has struggled and veteran quarterback Derek Carr hasn’t exactly been stellar this season – even getting benched on Sunday – but Josh McDaniels isn’t placing blame on anyone but himself.
“Obviously that wasn’t good enough in any way, shape or form,” McDaniels said on Sunday according to Pro Football Talk. “And that’s my responsibility, so I have to do a much better job of getting ourselves ready to go here. We’re better than that, and I apologize to Raider Nation for that performance and, again, I own that. That’s my responsibility, so we have to do much better, obviously, in every phase of the game to be able to compete with a team like that who’s well coached, has good players, they obviously came ready to play and did a much better job than we did. So it starts with me, and we’re going to work hard. We’re going to fix it.”
The Raiders have a chance to bounce back next week when they face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
