While some NFL teams choose to rest their star players and quarterbacks throughout the preseason, protecting them from injury, that certainly does not seem to be the plan for the Chicago Bears with quarterback Justin Fields. The Bears played Fields in their preseason opener, and it looks like they’re going to play him in the finale, as well.
According to a report from Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times], Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields will start for the team during the preseason finale against the Buffalo Bills this weekend – though he might not necessarily play all that long due to several injuries on the offensive line.
The Bears have several key offensive linemen dealing with injuries including right tackle Darnell Wright, right guard Nate Davis, center Cody Whitehair, and left guard Teven Jenkins have all been dealing with injuries. This will impact how long Fields stays in the game.
While it doesn’t sound like Fields will be in long, it’s certainly a bold move to play their start quarterback behind such a makeshift offensive line in an exhibition game, and people had a lot to say about it on social media.
Honestly interested in watching this. Only got to see three screen passes from him so want to know what the rest of his game looks like right now https://t.co/5sr45A3drz

Would be straight up hilarious if Fields went 3/3 again on only screen passes again to troll the YAC Merchant whiners.
Same people who’ve yet to figure out that the NFL MVP led the league in YAC in 2022 & Fields was dead last.

We’ll have to see how this move works out for the Bears.
