Justin Herbert recently underwent surgery.

The Los Angeles Chargers quarterback repaired a torn labrum in his left shoulder after he underwent the procedure. ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler spoke on the issue Sunday afternoon.

He tweeted, “Chargers QB Justin Herbert has undergone surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder, per the team.”

Herbert is “expected to be cleared for offseason activities” said Fowler, so the team won’t have to worry about it disrupting his offseason program. Which is good news for the Chargers.

He had previously dealt with the shoulder injury earlier this season. It nagged him for a bit but he played 17 games and the Chargers’ postseason game.

In 2022, Herbert threw for 4,739 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. The former Oregon quarterback also completed 68.2 percent of his passes. He led the Chargers to the postseason, but was in part responsible for a devastating loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The lasting impression on 2022 for Herbert was his team gagging away a 27-0 lead.

One of the changes Herbert will have to deal with post-injury is a new offensive coordinator. The Chargers let Joe Lombardi go after the team arguably underperformed again. Given that he isn’t expected to miss any of his offseason activities, he’ll have ample time to prepare.

In his career, Herbert already has thrown for 14,089 yards, 94 touchdowns, and 35 interceptions.
