The Kansas City Chiefs have gotten off to an alarming start to the season. After two weeks, the reigning AFC champions are 0-2, with a primetime game against the New York Giants set for Sunday night.
The Chiefs were hoping to get a critical part of their offense, Xavier Worthy, who was injured in Kansas City’s first game of the season after a collision with tight end Travis Kelce, back in time to face the Giants.
Unfortunately for the Chiefs, Worthy isn’t going to be available in such a critical game, according to one prominent league insider.
“Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy now been ruled out for Sunday night’s game and is not traveling with the team,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Poetic justice that Travis Kelce was trying to injure the defender and took out his teammate instead,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Why everyone acting like this man is something that he’s not. He had an average year last year and they acting like he was the best wr in the league. He doesn’t move the needle whatsoever for them. Rice will but this guy is mid at best,” another fan added.
“Can’t say I’m shocked, one bad hit on his shoulder and he would be toast,” someone else wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Chiefs can gut out a win without Worthy.
