Kendrick Lamar performs Oct. 13, 2023, on the American Express stage during Austin City Limits Music Festival at Zilker Park.

Kendrick Lamar had one of the most divisive Super Bowl halftime performances in recent memory. It seemed as if half the country thought it was the best performance the Super Bowl had ever seen, while the other half couldn’t believe what they had to sit through.

Now, it appears that the half that hated the performance took it upon themselves to do something about it. Lamar’s performance led to 125 complaints to the Federal Communications Commission due to Lamar’s racial commentary, provocative dance moves, gang references, and more, according to Awful Announcing.

10 of the complaints surrounded Lamar’s ongoing rap beef with his fellow artist, Drake. An example of one of the complaints has been provided: “Kendrick lamar made fake false and scandalous claims that are unfounded. He sd drake was a pedophile on TV in front of million of ppl, do better, this is a sad day.”

Fans reacted to the news of the complaints on social media.

“Wouldn’t be surprised if they all came from people who wear The Red Hat,” one fan wrote on Twitter, referencing Donald Trump supporters.

“Less than 1 complaint per 1 million people is pretty good,” another fan added.

“Drake created 125 different accounts?” one fan posted.

It’ll be interesting to see if this leads to the Super Bowl staying away from rap for the halftime show for the foreseeable future.
