Kirk Cousins’ future with the Minnesota Vikings remains in doubt.

Cousins was not brought in by this current regime and is currently in the final year of his deal with the team. While the Vikings are not closing the door on a possible contract extension, nothing appears to be imminent between the two sides. Minnesota reportedly sniffed around the top quarterback’s in this year’s NFL Draft and wound up selecting former BYU Cougars QB Jarren Hall in the fifth round.

What that means for Cousins’ future with the franchise ultimately remains to be seen. The team and its general manager, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, recently sent Cousins a clear message, stating that the 34-year-old quarterback has done enough during his time in Minnesota and that he doesn’t need to prove anything to them this upcoming season.

Despite the uncertainty, Cousins weighed in on his future and made a pretty blunt admission.

“I want to be in Minnesota. That’s kind of a no-brainer, so hopefully we can earn the right to do that,” Cousins said, via Pro Football Talk. “I’ve always said that, when I say I would like to be in Minnesota, there’s a lot of things I’d like to have — you’ve got to go earn it. So that’s kind of where I’m at with that.”
