The Pittsburgh Steelers are still waiting on Aaron Rodgers’ decision. The veteran quarterback may decide to retire, or he can sign with the Steelers, as many have expected him to do at some point this offseason.
However, Rodgers has recently been increasingly linked to the Minnesota Vikings. If Rodgers does decide to retire or sign with another team, a surprising name has emerged as a candidate to step in as the Steelers’ starting quarterback.
“The Steelers could be a team to watch for Kirk Cousins, if he waived his no trade clause and Aaron Rodgers decided to not go there, per (Albert Breer),” reported Sleeper NFL on Tuesday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Should’ve just kept Fields,” one fan wrote on Twitter, reference Justin Fields, who started six games for the Steelers last season, going 4-2, before signing with the New York Jets this offseason.
“Kirk Cousins! I hope you like Pittsburgh! Cuz you are going there for a draft pick for 2025,” one Falcons fan tried to manifest.
“I don’t care to where just get him outta here lol,” another Falcons fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Steelers pivot if Rodgers decides not to play in Pittsburgh next season.
