The Arizona Cardinals have been a middle-of-the-road team thus far this season, but there is one concerning stat for quarterback Kyler Murray that does not bode well for the team moving forward.

Murray has thrown the ball 173 times through four games for the Cardinals, which averages out to a little over 43 pass attempts per game.

This has mostly been because the Cardinals have been playing from behind in every game so far this season.

Arizona has not held a lead at half-time of any game this year, which has put a huge amount of stress on Murray and the Cardinals’ offense to come back in games.

Murray’s 173 passing attempts puts him on pace to break the NFL record for the most passing attempts in the history of the NFL.

While many may not see this as an issue, history has proven that a large number of passing attempts don’t exactly translate to winning football teams.

The record is held by Matthew Stafford while he was a member of the Detroit Lions in 2012 with 727 passing attempts, and that Lions team ended up finishing that season with a 4-12 record.

Despite Kyler Murray attempting the most passes, he only ranks 15th in the NFL in passing yards. This indicates that the team’s large amount of passing attempts is not all that productive offensively.

The Cardinals’ defense allowing 25.8 points per game thus far certainly doesn’t help things.

This put them in the bottom five for points allowed in the NFL and is a big reason they are behind in games and forced to pass more often than not.

If Arizona wants to be a successful team moving forward, it will need to fix these issues. Unfortunately for them, a matchup against the dynamic-looking Philadelphia Eagles offense awaits them in Week 5.
