As NFL star quarterback Lamar Jackson continues his contract dispute with the Baltimore Ravens with the two sides still unable to come to a deal, ESPN insider Adam Schefter shared a few specifics of a deal he claims was offered to Jackson that the quarterback turned down.
During an appearance on his podcast this week, Adam Schefter claimed that Lamar Jackson turned down an offer from the Ravens that included a total of $200 million in guaranteed money
“Chris Mortensen and I reported on this last September when Lamar Jackson was offered a deal that he turned down. A deal that included at the time he was offered $133 million due at signing,” Schefter said on the podcast. “$133 million guaranteed. The contract also had injury guarantees that brought the guarantees to $175 million and it then had a springing guarantee that could’ve brought the value for the contract, the guaranteed money of the contract to $200 million in guarantees.”
Jackson, meanwhile, posted a tweet disputing this report.
133/3years fully guaranteed😒 but I need a agent? 🤣🤦🏾♂️

In a tweet responding to Schefter’s claim, Jackson shared a gif of a man wearing several caps, implying that Schefter’s report was a “cap” – or not truthful. He also shared a follow-up tweet suggesting that if he was able to negotiate a contract that was 133 million guaranteed over three years, he doesn’t need an agent.
He also sent another tweet presumably calling out Schefter for a false report.
People throw 💩 at the wall and hope it stick🤣😮💨

“People throw [stuff] at a wall and hope it stick,” Jackson said in a tweet.
It’s clear that Jackson is not happy with his contract situation or the reporting, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it.
Schefter's quote:
"$133 million at signing. $133 million guaranteed."
"Injury guarantees to $175 million"
Also says there's a springing contract that brought the total guarantees to $200 million. So, sounds pretty accurate on the reporting of Schefter..? https://t.co/bgRaZzjH5l

You didn't accept it, it's not what you want.
So yes, you do. https://t.co/rcwSLGHNHu— Paul Kuharsky (@PaulKuharskyNFL) March 14, 2023
This is interesting. Structure is big, but if this is all it is? If it's straight-forward like this? I've thought the compromise b/w a traditional, top-of-the-market QB deal and the Deshaun deal would be a shorter, fully-guaranteed deal.
This would be that. (So … progress?) https://t.co/6zWvCE5RLZ

$133 million over three fully guaranteed years would be $5 million less than Deshaun Watson got on the first three years of his fully guaranteed deal. https://t.co/8wgnqPCAdJ

Mocking contract offers is so much better than deleting twitter / changing bio so it doesn't mention team. https://t.co/nBz7CWidoi

Imagine writing a story, and trying to explain this response to people who don't know what cap means. 🤣🤣🤣 https://t.co/du5PvOzwhe
