The Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson could be headed separate ways this off-season. The amount of guaranteed money in his next contract could play a major role in making the divorce final.

Ryan Clark of ESPN reports that the Ravens only raised their offer to Lamar from $113 million guaranteed in his next contract to $133 million.

“We went back and forth on First Take yesterday about Lamar Jackson’s guaranteed money,” tweeted Clark. “Based on a source with knowledge of the negotiations, Lamar was initially offered $113 million in guarantees and eventually raised to $133 million. That was the most Lamar was offered.”

Jackson, a former MVP, will no doubt point to others around the league. Especially the five-year contract signed by new Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson. The Browns fully guaranteed every penny of that $230 million contract. They did that even as Watson was coming off two ACL surgeries and faced a future 12-game suspension for gross sexual misconduct.

Jackson suffered a knee sprain that sidelined him from the end of the regular season. He missed the Ravens’ eventual playoff loss to Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals in the NFL Wild Card Round as well.

The Ravens originally selected Lamar Jackson with the No. 32 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Neither the franchise nor Jackson have commented on the reported contract offer as of writing this post.
