Throughout his career, Baltimore Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson has earned a reputation as a game-breaking superstar with his legs, but he’s also heard plenty of criticism regarding his ability to throw the football, with many critics suggesting he’s only a threat as a runner. And it sounds like he wants to answer that criticism in a big way this year.

During his press conference with the team on Thursday afternoon after signing a five-year extension with the Ravens, Lamar Jackson had quite a bold prediction, revealing that he wants to throw for “like 6,000 yards.”

“I think I told someone like man I wanna throw for like 6,000 yards with the weapons we have,” Jackson said according to Pro Football Talk. “And I’m not an individual award-type guy or a stat watcher, I just want to do that because no one’s ever done it and I feel like we have the weapons to do it.”

Not only would 6,000 passing yards in a single season be impressive, but it would also be historic. The NFL’s current single-season passing record is 5,477 yards, which was set by Peyton Manning in 2013.

It sure sounds like Jackson plans to take aim at this record heading into the 2023 NFL season.
