It was hoped by many that Colin Kaepernick’s workout with the Las Vegas Raiders would lead to a contract or an opportunity with another NFL team. However, that hasn’t happened yet.

NFL Hall of Fame defensive tackle Warren Sapp said this weekend that he has heard that Kaepernick’s workout did not go very well, going as far as to say that he heard it was a “disaster.”

“I heard it was a disaster,” said Sapp. “I heard it was one of the worst workouts ever. I am wondering how the hell this happened and the tape didn’t get out. We live in a world right now where you can put a drone up, it’s not like someone can stop you.”

Sapp spent four seasons with the Raiders, so it was presumed that he still has ties to the organization that could back this up. However, he was also met with criticism from people like Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, who wondered if Sapp was making this up in order to endear himself to sports fans who lean conservative and naturally dislike Kaepernick.

However, former NFL linebacker LaVar Arrington has come out and said that doesn’t think Sapp has the motive to lie about the workout. Arrington said he knows Sapp well and that the former NFL star still has strong connections to the Raiders.

“If you’ve played for an organization you know people in the organization. There’s certain places that you can get information that in other cases you wouldn’t get that information,” Arrington said. “Sapp played for the Raiders, and Sapp probably has a relationship with a couple people that are in the organization. If Sapp didn’t know, hear, or have a discussion with someone who was in the organization he wouldn’t have even talked about it.”

For what it’s worth, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler previously reported that the Raiders were impressed with Kaepernick’s arm strength and overall conditioning. However, at least for now, it still wasn’t enough for them to offer him a preseason roster spot.
