Former New York Giants star and Pro Football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor was arrested in Florida for violating the terms of his probation.

TMZ Sports is reporting and has confirmed that the Hall of Fame pass rusher was arrested for violating his terms as a registered sex offender.

Taylor didn’t report his change of residence, which is why he was arrested. The Boward County Florida Police Department said that Taylor turned himself in Wednesday evening and was thrown in jail on one charge of failure to report name or residence change.

Taylor was released Thursday morning.

Taylor’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, released a statement saying it’s all a big “misunderstanding.”

“My client, Lawrence Taylor, will be pleading ‘Not Guilty’ to the recent charges,” Eiglarsh said. “As with the previous incident involving the same allegations, Mr. Taylor did not knowingly commit any criminal offense. This situation is a significant misunderstanding. We are confident that, once the prosecutors review the exculpatory evidence demonstrating Mr. Taylor’s innocence, he will once again achieve a favorable outcome.”

The law states that wherever Taylor moves he has to report to law officials that he is a registered sex offender. Failure to do so, as in this case, will lead to his arrest.
