Green Bay Packers fans were happy and a bit stunned by the play of quarterback Jordan Love in their victory over the Chicago Bears to kick off the new NFL season.

He did so well, that former Packer Leroy Butler says he might be the best quarterback of the class of 2020.

“I think he may be better than those guys,” the Packers legend said, “because he’s going to have that opportunity because he had to sit and wait.”

For those who aren’t familiar with the quarterback class of 2020, that class included Justin Herbert, Tua Tua Tagovailoa, Joe Burrow, and Jalen Hurts.

Two out of the three quarterbacks, Burrow and Hurts, both made it to the Super Bowl over the past two years. Both Tua Tagovailoa and Herbert have led their teams to the playoffs.

But as Butler pointed out, Love never got the opportunity to back up Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers was not happy at all when the Packers drafted Love and let them know it.

Butler’s confidence in Love stems from his own career path. Butler was not drafted high either coming out of college but once he got the opportunity, he took advantage of it and he thinks Love will too.

“There’s a lot of guys who went before me,” the 1990 second-round pick said. “But I’m in the Hall of Fame — and they’re not.”
