Legendary Los Angeles Lakers point guard Magic Johnson has long been known to be extremely interested in being a part of sports franchises with his ownership of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Shocking reports have emerged about Johnson that indicate he may be planning on buying into another west-coast sports team with a group of potential stakeholders.

According to Liz Hoffman of Semafor.com, Johnson is “in talks” to buy a stake in the Las Vegas Raiders in a deal that could be a record-breaking purchase of a sports franchise.

While the exact details of how much Johnson has offered are not clear, the Raiders reportedly received an offer of $6.5 billion for a minority stake in the franchise back in August.

If this offer from Johnson is in that ballpark, it would be the largest purchase of any sports franchise, surpassing the recent purchase of the Denver Broncos.

Johnson notably has had an interest in buying into the Raiders franchise for quite some time now, previously flirting with the idea of bringing them back to Los Angeles when they were in Oakland.

The Raiders are currently owned by the Davis family, and it appears that they are at least entertaining the possibility of selling the team.

It seems like these negotiations are still in the early stages, but given Johnson’s reputation as a stake owner within the sports landscape, this will certainly be something to keep an eye on.
