Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are looking to get back to the playoffs. To make sure this is achieved, the franchise is undergoing a major cultural reset.

Dallas and team owner and general manager Jerry Jones made the decision to move on from head coach Mike McCarthy after the sides couldn’t agree to a new deal after the season, despite indicating all season that McCarthy would likely be back.

The Cowboys have since promoted their former offensive coordinator, Brian Schottenheimer, to the role of head coach, despite him having no previous head coaching experience.

That doesn’t mean no one on the Cowboys’ sideline will have head coaching experience. Schottenheimer has brought in former Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus as Dallas’ defensive coordinator.

Unfortunately, Eberflus’s starting quarterback from last season, Caleb Williams, is painting a bleak picture about what things were like behind the scenes under Eberflus.

“How [Eberflus] handled it at that time, for that game, was, I think, one of the things that throughout the locker room people talked about and were annoyed by,” Williams said of Chicago’s Hail Mary loss to the Washington Commanders, per the Chicago Sun-Times.

“When I got home, I got in my bed, I just dropped a few tears,” Williams said.

“I think those losses were pretty important for me and my growth,” Williams told the magazine. “To go on a losing streak, to be in this position and be at the helm of it, was definitely important for me. Just being able to see how I need to be when times are bad. . . .

“I’m going to work my tail off to never be in that situation again.”

It’ll be interesting to see if Eberflus responds to Williams’s comments.
