It’s the time of the year where NFL coaches find out about their future. For Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy, the writing appears to be on the wall. It’s just a question of whether or not he’s been fired yet.

WFAN host and NFL insider Boomer Esiason has reported the Bears told Nagy he will not return next season.

“I’ve been told that Matt Nagy has been told that he will not be returning,” Esiason said on WFAN this morning. “He knows. That came through a very tight and good source.”

Here are some reactions coming from the NFL world on the Nagy news reported by Esiason.

While Esiason says that it comes from a good source, it appears that the decision may not be completely final, as Nagy has denied the reports of his firing.

“Come up and ask me. I promise you I’ll tell you the truth. I’m a pretty good source.” said Nagy when asked about the report.

It is unlikely that Nagy would just come out and say that he has been told he would be fired after the Week 18 game, so it makes sense that he is denying the reports.

If the reports coming from Esiason are accurate, there will be speculation in the coming months as to who will fill Nagy’s place for the Chicago Bears.

There are some people on social media who are calling for Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh to be the next head coach for the team following reports that he could be interested in a return to the NFL.

It will be worth monitoring this week whether or not Esiason jumped the gun with the Nagy news, or if he was accurate with the source that he provided.
