The Detroit Lions opened up a 24-3 lead at home to the Washington Football Team, and then immediately started blowing that lead.

Eventually, Alex Smith (making his first start since a devastating leg injury) led Washington back with 21 unanswered points, culminating in this Antonio Gibson touchdown run with just over six minutes left in the game.

Had the Lions lost this game after blowing that lead, it would have been hard to imagine Matt Patricia finishing out the season. (This has become a bit of a brand for him.)

Fortunately for him (though maybe unfortunately for Lions fans hoping to move on), Detroit mounted their own late drive, though they only managed to give Matt Prater a 59-yard field goal opportunity. Hardly a gimme.

Then, Prater did this:

Prater jawing with an opponent immediately is underrated there. That’s a hell of a kick, though, and what a way to win a game.
