Kelly Stafford, the wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, has been in the news recently over comments she made about how her husband can’t connect with younger teammates.

After seeing the firestorm it caused in the press, she’s admitting that those comments were a big mistake.

In a recent episode of her Morning After podcast, Kelly said that Matthew has been having a hard time connecting with younger Rams teammates. She added that it’s made things harder for him than in past years as he attempts to put a positive cap on his NFL career.

Appearing on Local 4 in Detroit, Mrs. Stafford now says that she shouldn’t have talked about it openly and potentially caused a rift for Matthew and his teammates.

“That was tough. I say all the time, probably not the best if your wife’s name is in the media, if it’s talking about sports,” she said, via TMZ. “I felt pretty bad last week… I put my foot in my mouth pretty good last week.”

She added that while she thought some might find it relatable, she understands that it’s not really an anecdote for her to share.

“I’m not in an NFL locker room, I’m not spending every day with these teammates,” she said.

We’ll have to see if Stafford and his teammates are able to get on the same page as the 2023 NFL season kicks off this week.
