Monday was a rough night for the Matthew Stafford and Los Angeles Rams. It ended up being a poor night for Kelly Stafford, Matthew’s wife, as well.

The Rams came into the game riding the hype of all their new acquisitions (Von Miller, Odell Beckham, Jr.) and the idea that the franchise is going all-in on a Super Bowl run this season. Instead of proving the hype right, they got trounced by the San Francisco 49ers, 31-10. Stafford, who has had a heck of a season so far in LA, had a fairly mediocre evening, throwing for 243 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, in the stands, Kelly was doing some misguided throwing of her own. According to TMZ, a fan behind her at Levi’s Stadium started trash talking and she responded by hurling a soft pretzel at him. Hey, we’ve all been there. But when security stepped in, Kelly and the people she was with were escorted away to other seats.

The world may have moved on but one Rams fan in attendance decided to chime in on her Instagram page, letting Stafford know that she was there, she witnessed the whole thing, and she failed to show the class and decorum befitting a Rams fan and quarterback’s wife.

“WHY DID YOU THROW A PRETZEL AT A NINER FAN sitting behind me?” asked the commenter. “Who do you think you are to do such a thing? You are lucky you didn’t hit me with it because the outcome would have been different for YOU. Show some class and support your husband and his new team with grace please. I am a Rams fan and am embarrassed by your actions last night this is why I am sharing with other. Hopefully you will be more aware of what you are doing in the future and set a better example for your children.

Now, obviously, this person sucks and should mind her business. But since she inserted herself into the story, Stafford decided to use the opportunity to apologize for her pretzel logic.

“Girl I knowwwww I’m an idiot,” responded Stafford. “He was saying a bunch of things that were aggressive towards our crew but zero excuse. I tried to apologize, but in the end knew I was wrong. Will always stand up for my guy and everyone I love, but obviously needed to do it completely different! I’m embarrassed too! Sorry you had to witness me in my weak moment!

The whole thing is pretty silly and Stafford doesn’t need to get all twisted up in knots about it. We don’t know anything about the guy but if we take everything we know about obnoxious sports fans we can presume he probably deserved a pretzel to the head. Hopefully, this nosy Rams fan feels better and hopefully both Staffords work on their aim for the future.
