Although not quite the Super Bowl Halftime act, Metallica will still be a prominent part of this year’s Super Bowl lead-in festivities. The wildly popular metal band headlines “The Night Before” concert which will take place at AT&T Park on Feb. 6, Super Bowl eve.

San Francisco is apparently very famous to some for its thrash metal roots, and homegrown Metallica is the banner carrier for the region and that type of music. There was even a petition developed for the band to perform the Super Bowl 50 halftime show, which received over 60,000 signatures.

The NFL understandably went in the direction of a contemporary act with wider appeal, but as this concert is proving, people are still really into metal from the 1980s and 1990s. The show was sold out in less than 10 minutes, and it will be streamed online for free and in HD at LiveMetallica.com.

The legendary metal group is set to take the stage at 8:30 p.m. PT, which, let’s be honest, is probably way too late on the East Coast for any of Metallica’s aging fans.
