The NFL’s referees made headlines for all the wrong reasons this weekend when a controversial roughing the passer penalty helped Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Atlanta Falcons. The call has led to all sorts of criticism across the league, and now you can add Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons to the list of players blasting the league for it.

In a Tweet on Monday, Parsons absolutely blasted the NFL for calling such a soft and undeserved penalty on the hit on Brady while ignoring more egregious and dangerous penalties against defensive players.

“We won’t call this but we’ll call a roughing the passer lol! Can we focus in and protect defensive players ?” Parsons Tweeted along with a photo showing him getting blatantly held during a play in Sunday’s win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Parsons was not shy about criticizing the league for the double standard, and the NFL world had plenty to say about his Tweet on Monday afternoon.

While Parsons may not have quite the influence that Brady has throughout the league, he is the frontrunner for the league’s defensive player of the year award and is emerging as arguably the top pass-rusher in the entire NFL.
