While Dallas Cowboys fans put Sunday’s loss to the Green Bay Packers squarely on the poor playcalling of head coach Mike McCarthy and his decision to go for it on fourth down instead of kicking the field goal in overtime, Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons sees the bigger picture.
Parsons blames the Cowboys run defense for the loss. The team gave up 207 yards on the ground to the Packers, which kept Green Bay in the game.
Parsons warns that if they don’t get better at defending the run, this will continue to happen.
Micah Parsons: “Until we (put) out this fire, we’re gonna keep seeing it. If people want to keep doing their own thing, we’re gonna deal with this all year. We have to be accountable. We have to stay in our gaps, gotta stop the run. Until we do that, it’s gonna be a long year.”

The Cowboys’ defense allows 143 yards per game rushing, which is fourth worse in the league, but their pass defense only allows only 181 yards passing per game, which is fourth best in the league.
The Cowboys’ run defense has been a major concern all season for this team and Sunday, it finally caught up to them in a big way.
The loss may have not only cost the Cowboys the NFC East but perhaps even home field advantage in the playoffs down the line, depending on how things shake out.
