The Dallas Cowboys and star pass rusher Micah Parsons are in the middle of a very public contract dispute as Parsons looks for an extension that will reflect his dominance since the moment he stepped onto the field.
However, team owner and general manager Jerry Jones is insistent on doing things his own way and on his own terms, including negotiating with Parsons directly, rather than going through an agent.
Parsons, for his part, tried to move forward like a consummate professional and showing up for training camp as a full participant. However, after a lack of progress in negotiations, Parsons requested a trade from the organization.
Jones didn’t seem overly concerned with the development, but now Parsons appears to be escalating things even further, according to one prominent insider.
“For the first time in training camp, Micah Parsons was not on the practice field Thursday with multiple sources indicating the Pro Bowl pass rusher was dealing with back tightness. He received treatment during practice,” reported ESPN’s Todd Archer.
It’s worth noting that most fans and pundits are under the assumption that Parsons’ back tightness is being used as a negotiating tactic.
Although Parsons eventually made an appearance with the team, per Archer, it’s clear that he’s not afraid to take whatever steps he feels he must to get the contract he feels that he deserves.
