The Dallas Cowboys can’t seem to stay out of the headlines. On Tuesday, there were reports that team owner and general manager Jerry Jones had offered and agreed to terms with star pass rusher Micah Parsons, although Parsons still had yet to put ink to paper on an official contract, as his agent, David Mulugheta, hadn’t been involved in discussions.
However, it appears that such reports are unfounded, as Parsons took to social media not long after to give his side of things, and it doesn’t paint a pretty picture for the Cowboys’ front office.
“‘Jerry Jones with blatant disrespect to Micah Parsons agent David Mulugheta: The agent is not a concern here … I don’t know his name.’ Mulugheta is one best and most respected agents in the NFL. Parsons is wise to have hired Mulugheta,” tweeted Cowboys writer Clarence Hill Junior.
It didn’t take long for Parsons to respond.
“Facts!! David is the best and I will not be doing any deal without (him) involved! Like anyone with good sense I hired experts for a reason. There is no one I trust more when it comes to negotiating contracts than David! There will be no backdoors in this contract negotiation.”
Fans reacted to Parsons’ statement on social media.
“Oh look… more theatre so the networks have something to talk about. Now they have the players in on the propaganda. I’m so tired of the Cowboys man. I wish they were a serious team… instead they operate like a Monday night pro wrestling sitcom,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“I think him saying he doesn’t know your agents name is a whole lot of nothing. It’s Jerry talk, move on,” another fan responded.
“Why is everything this organization does so public. We’re tried of winning 7-9 games, 1st round exit and being the laughing stock of the league,” wrote someone else.
It’ll be interesting to see if this leads to irreparable damage between Parsons and the front office.
